Noticias de España: Ardillas en un Tronco! || An Update from Spain: Squirrels on a Trunk!
Ya he estado aquí en Sevilla por tres semanas y todavía no puedo creerlo! Muchas cosas han pasado en estas tres semanas y estoy emocionada de compartir algunas de estas cosas con vosotros!
Durante el primer fin de semana hicimos una gincana por la ciudad! Era muy divertida y era una buena manera de conocer más a la ciudad. Fuimos a muchos lugares famosos como La Giralda (la catedral), la Plaza de España, Las Setas, y Rayas (la heladería más antigua en Sevilla). Caminamos mucho ese día--más de 15 millas!--y estaba muy cansada después de terminar la gincana!
Mis clases empezaron el 15 de enero y son muy interesantes. Tengo una clase de literatura española, una clase de gramática avanzada y una clase de la historia de tres culturas en España (los musulmanes, los judíos y los cristianos). Mis profesores son muy amables y me parece que a ellos les gustan mucho enseñar y ayudar a los estudiantes. La próxima semana voy a empezar mi clase de Acción Solidaria y estoy muy emocionada!
He continuado ajustar bien a la cultura y estilo de vida aquí en Sevilla. Me encanta mi señora y me he gustado mucho conocerla más! Creo que mis momentos favoritos con ella ocurren durante la sobremesa después cenar. Mi señora trata de aprender palabras nuevas en inglés y compartimos cuentos graciosos y casi cada día siento que voy a morir de risa. Anoche hablamos de crema de cacahuetes/mantequilla de maní y tratamos de explicar a nuestra señora que hay una merienda muy común en los EE.UU. que consiste de apio con crema de cacahuetes y uvas pasas. El nombre de esta merienda es "hormigas en un leño" pero mi compañera de cuarto dijo "ardillas en un tronco" y mi señora estaba muy confusa. Fue un momento tan gracioso y no pude parar de reír.
Dios ha continuado bendecirme durante estas semanas. Ayer estaba estudiando para mis primeros exámenes en Starbucks cuando oí la canción "Buen Buen Padre" (Good Good Father). Fue un momento increíble porque estaba en un Starbucks en España y de repente oí una de mis canciones favoritas en inglés. Esta casualidad me recordó que Dios es bueno todo el tiempo y que su amor y voluntad son perfectos.

I have already been here for almost three weeks and I still can't believe it! Many things have happened in the past few weeks and I am excited to share about some of them!
During our first week here we did a photo scavenger hunt throughout the city! It was really fun and it was a great way to get to know the city. We went to many famous places in Sevilla, such as, La Giralda (the cathedral), the Plaza de España, the Mushrooms, and Rayas (the oldest gelato shop in Seville). We walked a lot that day and--more than 15 miles!--and I was very tired after we finished the scavenger hunt!
My classes started on January 15th and all of them are very interesting! I have a Spanish literature class, an advanced grammar class, and a class about the history of three cultures in Spain (the Muslims, the Jews, and the Christians). My professors are all very nice and I can tell that the really like to teach and help their students. Next week I am going to start my service learning class and I am really excited!
I have continued to adjust well to the culture and the lifestyle here in Sevilla. I love my señora and I have really enjoyed getting to know her more. I think that some of my favorite moments with her have been while we sit around talking after dinner. She tries to learn new words in English and we share funny stories, and almost every day I feel like I am going to die from laughter. Last night we were talking about peanut butter and I was trying to explain "ants on a log" to her (celery sticks with peanut butter and raisins). However, my roommate called it "ardillas en un tronco" which translates to "squirrels on a trunk." It was so hilarious and I couldn't stop laughing.
God has continued to bless me throughout these past few weeks. Yesterday I was studying for my first set of exams in Starbucks when I heard the song "Good Good Father." It was an incredible moment because I was in a Starbucks in Spain and all of a sudden I heard one of my favorite worship songs in English. This coincidence reminded me that God is good all the time and that His love and His will for me are perfect.
